I love Vanguard. You cannot find a more cost-effective, efficient way to index as a retail investor.
Three weeks later, I’m still impressed with this move.
When I read the headline, my mind was blown. Many of the people interviewed said the stock market returns were not great enough. I understand that perspective if you are backloading contributions, but holy cow, does this feel risky if you are going all-in on a single asset. It is hard to beat the S&P 500 annualized historically, and easy to invest in on a low-cost basis.
Mr. Hegseth said: “As President Trump also told me, we’ve repeatedly placed people atop the Pentagon with supposedly the right credentials, whether they’re retired generals, academics or defense contractor executives. And where has it gotten us?”
